When a baby is born, are there any Islamically recommended acts to be done as a result?

Answer:

The recommendation in Islam  in relation to the new born baby, is for the father or paternal grandfather of the child to say Iqamah in the left ear of the baby and Adhan in the right ear, to give a name to the baby, to slaughter a lamb in the name of the baby and feed the meat to the needy, it is called Aqiqa, and to shave the hair of the baby and give silver as Sadaqah according to the weight of the hair.
