What is the Islamic law about carrying a weapon for self-protection?

Question:

What is the Islamic law about carrying a weapon for self-protection?

Answer:

A person is allowed to carry such a weapon as long as he does not pose a threat to the lives or health of innocent people. Of course, he should abide by the laws of the country in which he lives, as breaking these laws is not allowed in Islam, unless they contradict the laws of Islam itself.
