Can I say “O’ Allah, Show me proof that you exist”, with the intention of getting closer to God?

Question:

Is it okay to say “O’ Allah, Show me proof that you exist”? Is that okay to say? And my intention is to come closer to my faith and my God.

Answer:

The evidence for Allah’s Existence is everywhere, we simply need to open the eyes of our heart to see it. In the Holy Qur’an Allah (swt) says: “so wherever you turn yourselves or your faces there is the Face of Allah” (2:115).

Therefore, perhaps it is better to pray to Allah (swt) to open our hearts and eyes and ears to the proofs around us, because He has already shown us proof that He exists in every moment of our lives.

Imam Husain (a.s) says: “I know that what You want from me is that You become apparent to me in everything, such that I am not ignorant of You in anything”.
